Ringing in the New Year with a Celebration of Music at SCS!

I would like to celebrate the outstanding learning that is happening in music class so far this year! Students are working together to create a respectful, collaborative classroom culture that allows them to share their creative thoughts and musical experiences.  Together we have explored the Expressive Qualities of music, dynamics, (piano and forte) and tempo, (presto and largo). A Great Start to the year in Ms. Marino's Music Classroom!

I am looking forward to playing, singing and creating music with the amazing Elementary students here at Shelburne Community School. The beginning of the year in music has been a wonderful celebration of being back in the classroom together!  In my classroom I encourage creative 'outside of the box' thinking, that inspires new ways of including every student's authentic voice and fosters the growth of unique classroom environments. Subsequently, every music class shares a unique community culture from which we grow ourselves as individuals. We are discovering how culture integrates with music around the world.  To help us with this idea, we are integrating literature and song by reading the book shown above by Rafael Lopez, "We've Got The Whole World In Our Hands".  Across my PK - 4th grade classes, we are developing basic concepts of rhythm using conversational solfege and improvisation.
